Oregon Coast Bottom Fishing Charters
Bottom Fishing on the Oregon Coast
The Oregon coast offers incredible bottom fishing for lingcod, sea bass and cabezon on the reefs just off the shore. Bottom fish are plentiful and offer delicious, white meat for you to take home. Captain Don even makes his own lures that will help you bring more fish to the boat.
Captain Don fishes for bottom fish from 6 am to 2 pm from a variety of locations along the coast including Newport, Depoe Bay, Tillamook and Astoria. He stays constantly aware of where the fish are and the most current techniques and lures/baits to use to get the most fish.
Tips for Bottom Fishing on The Oregon Coast
Captain Don’s favorite place to go after bottom fish is from Depoe Bay. Bottom fishing is a great activity for families as the fish are more manageable and staying closer to the shore helps prevent sea sickness. The most common way of bottom fishing is with jigs, but you can also fish with more traditional baits like herring or squid. Bottom fishing is good all year so it’s a great to do in the off season.
